Trädgårdsbäcken, stage 2
Housing for rent in Alunda
This is essentially the second stage of Trädgårdsbäcken in central Alunda, a little town close to Uppsala. This stage adds a further 16 dwellings to the previous 28 dwellings. These range from one to three stories, plastered externally, and form three sides of a courtyard, facing south. The forth side is a stream. Ways from the road into this courtyard pass between the buildings, giving easy access to the shared part of the ”green” and allow views both inwards and outwards. It is grassed and landscaped with fruit trees, flowerbeds and other greenery. There are sit groups and a play space. One can sit alongside the stream under a crown of cherry trees, to the sound of rippling water. There is a brook-side pavilion close to the bridge, which connects to the initial stage of the development.
The housing consists of light and airy, well equipped flats ranging in size from one to four rooms plus kitchen. Flats with ground contact have small gardens enclosed by a hedge, with a lawn, fruit bushes and space to grow your own plants and a paved area for garden furniture etc. Flats without ground contact have either a large balcony or a roof terrace. All the flats have an outside store either in their gardens, on roof terraces or in shared external spaces.
The construction is to a high standard of insulation. Heating is an environmentally sound deep bored geothermal system, with heat recovery as part of the flats ventilation system.
